Oliver Bearman made a quick entry into the world of Formula One and it concluded on a positive note. The debut of the young Englishman in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix has garnered attention within the Formula One community. At just eighteen years old, Bearman delivered an exceptional performance, finishing the race in seventh place. As a reserved driver for Ferrari and a member of PREMA for F2, this rising star expressed one disappointment from the impressive weekend.
During the week of the Saudi Arabian GP, Bearman experienced illness but decided to persevere and participated in FP1 and FP2. After the second free practice session, Sainz Jr. suffered from intense pain and underwent an appendicitis surgery at the hospital. Bearman stepped in for him starting from FP3. Due to the lack of time to familiarize himself with the car, Bearman missed out on Q3, which was a significant letdown for him.
Despite the circumstances surrounding his debut, the modest Englishman shared that he was initially surprised upon receiving the call to compete in F1. He acknowledged that he would have preferred to debut under different circumstances but is grateful for the opportunity.
Oliver Bearman made history at the Saudi Arabian GP by becoming the youngest British driver to debut in Formula One. Currently driving for PREMA in Formula 2 and serving as Ferrari’s and HAAS’s reserved driver, Bearman has already shifted his focus to F2 for the upcoming week and does not want to dwell too much on his impressive F1 debut.
Due to the last-minute call from Ferrari, Bearman was unable to participate in the sprint race or the main race in F2. This resulted in a significant loss for the young talent as he failed to score any points over the weekend, placing him at the bottom of the standings. Oliver Bearman now aims to make a comeback and secure the top position in Formula 2.
