The PFL has officially announced the launch of the Bellator Champions Series, a series of eight global events. Each card in the Bellator Champions Series will showcase title fights, marking a new chapter in MMA following the PFL’s acquisition of Bellator. The inaugural event is scheduled for March 22 at SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The announcement was made by PFL officials on Monday.
Headlining Bellator 302 will be a highly anticipated vacant light heavyweight title bout between Corey Anderson (17-6 MMA, 4-1 BMMA) and Karl Moore (12-2 MMA, 4-0 BMMA). This matchup is set to captivate fans and solidify the significance of the Bellator Champions Series.
PFL CEO Peter Murray expressed his enthusiasm for the new franchise, stating, “After the landmark acquisition of Bellator, the Professional Fighters League is thrilled to introduce a new era of MMA through the Bellator Champions Series global franchise.” Murray emphasized that the series will feature reigning Bellator champion fighters defending their titles against top contenders from the esteemed Bellator roster. Fans can expect the highest level of competition and innovative MMA formats, distributed by industry leaders such as DAZN.
In addition to the headline bout, Bellator 302 will feature a co-headlining women’s featherweight matchup between local favorite Leah McCourt (8-3 MMA, 7-2 BMMA) and Sinead Kavanagh (9-6 MMA, 6-6 BMMA). These two fighters have previously clashed at Bellator 275 in February 2022, where Kavanagh emerged victorious with a unanimous decision over McCourt.
As the Bellator Champions Series takes flight, MMA enthusiasts can anticipate a thrilling journey that showcases the best fighters in the world and delivers unparalleled entertainment.
