FOM turned down Andretti’s attempt to join the Formula 1 grid in 2026, despite promising prospects. However, a majority of individuals on the grid supported Andretti’s bid over the current situation. A development driver for Red Bull also backed the American bid. This driver stated that the project was gaining a comparable number of staff members as Haas.
Many sided with Andretti regarding the matter and highlighted the advantages that the American constructor presented, despite the rejection from FOM. According to these supporters, Andretti deserved every opportunity in the pinnacle of motorsport. The Red Bull driver currently competes for Andretti in Formula E. Therefore, this 28-year-old driver pointed out the constructor’s accomplishments in various motorsport categories. Furthermore, Andretti has already begun establishing a facility in Silverstone, despite the rejection.
In addition, it was noted that Andretti had “remarkable resources” at its disposal. The American bid was already close to matching Haas in terms of staff employment. If the team continues in this direction, F1 would need to reconsider its proposal. However, the 28-year-old driver mentioned that he would be quite old by the time this could occur in the world of Formula 1.
Jake Dennis had nothing but praise for Andretti’s entire bid to join the F1 grid. Dennis stated that it was exciting to be part of Andretti, considering the progress the team was already making with their headquarters. The 28-year-old driver took a dig at Haas’ recent performances while highlighting the benefits of Andretti. Dennis mentioned that Andretti’s bid would allow for the entry of a competitive American team, especially with General Motors’ involvement as the power units supplier. Currently, Haas is the only American team in F1 and has experienced a series of disappointing seasons.
Additionally, the Englishman mentioned that two American brands collaborating would be something unique in Formula 1. Dennis also claimed that there is enough space on the grid to accommodate an 11th team. Therefore, the Formula E champion remains eager to witness the entrance of the American constructor as a new team in Formula 1.
Only time will tell if Andretti-Cadillac’s bid will eventually be accepted by FOM for a future season. However, as things stand, FOM is unlikely to change its decision. Nevertheless, the American racing team has made it clear that it will persist in its efforts to secure a spot on the F1 grid.
