Sauber Group Chief Executive Officer, Andreas Seidl, has shared that Audi is making extensive preparations for its upcoming entry into Formula 1 by recruiting individuals from rival teams. Audi is set to make its debut in F1 in 2025 after acquiring the Sauber-owned team and aligning with the new technical regulations. Sauber has struggled in recent times, falling to ninth place last season after a promising start under the latest rules. However, Audi’s impending arrival has enticed Nico Hulkenberg to join Sauber from Haas in 2025, and there are rumors of a lucrative offer being made to Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz. Seidl has revealed that Sauber has been actively recruiting top engineers from other teams since the Audi announcement, aiming to increase its staff from 600 to 900 employees as quickly as possible. The team has already attracted talented individuals from various areas of motorsport, and the recruitment process is ongoing. Audi’s entrance into Formula 1 has generated significant interest, given the brand’s premium status and rich motorsport history. Seidl also disclosed that Audi has adopted a similar approach for its engine operation, hiring top personnel from various manufacturers to assemble a power unit that complies with the revised regulations.
