Toto Wolff has not forgotten about the remarks made by Christian Horner ten years ago regarding the implementation of rule changes to counter Mercedes’ dominance. Red Bull has once again produced a superior chassis this season, positioning them to dominate the championship. This lack of competition has left many disappointed. In response, Wolff took a swipe at Horner’s previous comments and expressed his own opinions.
In 2015, Horner called for the FIA to introduce rule changes in order to slow down Mercedes’ dominance. Wolff made it clear that he did not want to seek regulatory changes solely due to one team’s dominance. Despite this, he commended Red Bull for their exceptional performance. Wolff went on to remark that the Red Bull drivers were leaving their competitors far behind, with a lead of over 40 seconds. He also acknowledged that Milton Keynes was in a league of their own and that the team’s outstanding performance was largely due to their car.
Ferrari’s team principal also shared his thoughts on Red Bull’s dominance. Vasseur emphasized that his focus was on the development of the Italian team’s car throughout the season. Regardless of their performance against Red Bull, Vasseur stated that their goal was to continually improve. He added that Ferrari would put up a strong fight against Red Bull and maintain their current approach. However, Vasseur openly acknowledged that Milton Keynes had a clear advantage over Maranello and would likely secure the championship for the 2024 season.
Only time will tell how rival teams will cope with Red Bull’s dominance. For now, it seems that the team will remain unchallenged under Christian Horner’s leadership throughout the season. It is worth noting that Horner is currently under investigation by the FIA. Milton Keynes is thriving alongside the reigning world champion, Max Verstappen.
