Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced that their academy prospect, Brooklyn Lyons-Foster, will be joining Finnish club HJK Helsinki.
The agreement between the two clubs means that Lyons-Foster will be leaving Spurs on a free transfer, although there is a provision for a sell-on fee in the deal.
The deal has been finalized with no transfer fee involved, although Spurs have included a clause that entitles them to a percentage of any future transfer fee for Lyons-Foster.
Both clubs have confirmed the transfer. In a statement on their official website, Spurs said:
“We have reached an agreement with HJK Helsinki for the transfer of Brooklyn Lyons-Foster.”
Meanwhile, Lyons-Foster himself has expressed mixed emotions about leaving Spurs, a club he has been associated with for a significant portion of his life. However, he is also excited about starting a new chapter with his new team in Finland, saying, “I can’t wait to get started.”
Having progressed through Tottenham’s youth system and made regular appearances for their U21 team, Lyons-Foster has demonstrated his versatility, talent, and leadership qualities.
He has played 99 games in Premier League 2, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists.
Furthermore, Lyons-Foster even earned a place in Tottenham’s senior squad as a substitute for two matches during the 2021-2022 season, although he was unable to break into the first team.
