Ferrari Team Principal Frederic Vasseur has suggested that they are conducting interviews with individuals “from all the teams” in the Formula 1 grid in order to strengthen their technical division.
The Italian team has been actively recruiting since Vasseur took over, and there have been rumors that renowned designer Adrian Newei could be their next addition. Newei, who has an impressive track record with 25 championships, has long been a target for Ferrari and is expected to leave Red Bull in the spring.
McLaren CEO Zak Brown believes that Newei’s potential move to Ferrari could trigger a series of changes within Red Bull, as tensions have been rising since the investigation into team boss Christian Horner. Brown even revealed that individuals from Red Bull have approached McLaren about a possible switch, a sentiment echoed by Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff.
When asked about the heated exchanges during the Miami Grand Prix weekend, Vasseur downplayed the situation, suggesting that it was primarily between Toto and Horner. He also joked that Brown had sparked the latest talking point in the F1 paddock.
Vasseur emphasized that he prefers to stay out of these debates, as his focus is on bringing Ferrari back to the top. He believes that internal improvements, recruitment, and car development should take precedence over engaging in conflicts with colleagues.
Addressing the rumors of Ferrari poaching engineers from Mercedes, Vasseur playfully mentioned that they are considering options from all teams and that many interviews are taking place in Maranello, including with individuals from Mercedes.
