Collin Veijer, a rider for Husqvarna, took the lead early on after David Alonso, who started in pole position, crashed. Veijer held onto his lead and won the race despite the challenges from David Muñoz of BOE Motorsport and Ivan Ortola of MT.
Alonso had been the standout performer leading up to the race and started at the front of the pack alongside Muñoz and Veijer. Daniel Holgado, the championship leader, started in 18th place after a crash in the qualifying session on Saturday, giving Alonso a chance to close the gap at the top of the table.
The Jerez circuit was mostly dry, but there were warnings of damp patches from the rain on Saturday. Muñoz took advantage of the start and overtook Alonso, but Alonso quickly reclaimed the lead. The two riders built a gap over third-placed Ryusei Yamanaka.
However, drama unfolded at the end of the first lap as Alonso crashed, ruining his chances of victory. He managed to get back on his bike and continue the race. Meanwhile, Veijer made a move on Muñoz to take the lead, with Ortola moving up to third.
Ortola continued to make progress and overtook Muñoz to take second place. A leading group of six Moto3 riders formed, with Veijer, Ortola, and Muñoz leading the pack. Yamanaka, Joel Esteban, and Joel Kelso completed the front-running group.
Muñoz reclaimed second place from Ortola with a strong move, showcasing the competitive nature of Moto3 racing. Holgado, who started in 18th, steadily made his way up the field and found himself in ninth place. The top six riders had a two-second advantage over the rest of the field.
Veijer tried to break away from the pack, but Muñoz and Ortola matched his pace. Esteban and Yamanaka were not far behind, fighting for fourth place, with Kelso in sixth. Yamanaka set the fastest lap with 11 laps to go, while Esteban and Kelso struggled to keep up with the leading group.
Muñoz overtook Ortola again to reclaim second place, but Veijer remained calm and composed at the front. Ortola regained second place on Lap 12, but it was clear that the top four riders were in contention for the win. They had a three-second advantage over Esteban and Kelso.
With two laps remaining, Veijer was still leading the race with Muñoz and Ortola close behind. Muñoz made a move on Veijer at the final corner, but Veijer defended his position. It came down to the final corner, but Veijer managed to hold on and cross the finish line in first place.
Muñoz finished a close second, with Ortola completing the podium. Yamanaka finished in fourth place, while Esteban crashed on the final lap, allowing Kelso to secure fifth place. Adrian Fernandez and Holgado finished sixth and seventh respectively. Carraro, Nepa, Piqueras, Alonso, Roulstone, Fariolo, Bertelle, and Almansa completed the points-scoring positions.
