Max Verstappen secured his first pole position at the Miami Grand Prix, beating Charles Leclerc by 0.141s in qualifying. Verstappen, who had won the previous two races in Miami, outperformed his Ferrari rival, who couldn’t match his own initial attempt. Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez improved his time in the second attempt and secured fourth place on the grid. Lando Norris qualified ahead of Oscar Piastri in the McLaren battle, while George Russell and Lewis Hamilton took a gamble by using the medium tyres in Q3. Lance Stroll continued his dominance over his Aston Martin teammate Fernando Alonso, finishing 11th compared to Alonso’s 15th. Alpine also showed promise but failed to improve in their final Q2 laps. Daniel Ricciardo struggled in qualifying and is on course to start last due to a grid penalty from a previous race. Kevin Magnussen and Zhou Guanyu were the two drivers who finished behind Ricciardo.
