Max Verstappen has shown great dominance under the current Formula 1 regulations. The reigning F1 world champion is widely talked about and is a subject of discussion among various sports analysts. While most of the discussions come from the F1 community, former NFL star turned sports analyst, Pat McAfee, has also recently shared his thoughts on the Dutch driver.
Verstappen had a highly dominant performance last year and has continued his strong form into this year’s season. Although the sport is currently on hold with the Australian Grand Prix still a few days away, McAfee has gained attention online for intentionally mispronouncing Verstappen’s name.
During a conversation on his popular show, McAfee was joined by NASCAR star Kyle Busch and an ESPN analyst. It was during this discussion that McAfee jokingly referred to the 26-year-old Verstappen in a different way.
Furthermore, McAfee took the opportunity to discuss Verstappen’s dominance in Formula 1. Verstappen had a dominant performance in 2023, and based on the first two races of this season, it seems he is on track to continue his success.
While Verstappen is the center of attention, the Red Bull team adviser, Helmut Marko, has revealed that Verstappen’s success is also benefiting his teammate, Sergio Perez. Perez has achieved two second-place finishes in the first two races.
Marko has made it clear that Perez is benefiting greatly from using the same race setup as Verstappen this year. However, the 34-year-old Mexican driver still lacks the same race pace and one-lap speed as his teammate.
In the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Perez finished 13 seconds behind Verstappen. Considering all of this, it will be interesting to see how Perez will fare against Verstappen in the upcoming Australian Grand Prix.
