Chase Elliott and Dale Jr. are two well-known drivers in the world of NASCAR. They have both had successful careers and have amassed a loyal fanbase. Recently, Joe Gibbs Racing drivers were asked to determine who the better driver is between the two.
In an interview for his Fox Sports show, the retired 2014 NASCAR Cup champion sat down with JGR drivers to discuss this topic. Denny Hamlin, who is good friends with Dale Jr., chose Chase Elliott as the better driver. Ty Gibbs and Martin Truex Jr. also backed Elliott, highlighting his championship win. Even Bell, when asked, supported Bill Elliott’s son. They all chose the active racer, as they still have to compete against him.
Kevin Harvick, a former SHR driver, is known for his active presence on social media, particularly on X. He often interacts with fans and was recently asked by a fan to choose the better driver between a seven-time Cup champion and a four-time Cup champion. Surprisingly, he chose the latter.
Harvick was then asked by another fan about the debate between two legends. He chose the ex-RCR driver over Petty, who has an impressive record of winning over 200 Cup races.
It’s important to note that choosing the best driver who had their peaks in different eras is a subjective topic. Dale Jr. made some bold choices, such as selecting Gordon over Johnson. This decision is debatable, considering that Johnson consistently outperformed Gordon when they were teammates at Hendrick Motorsports.
