Alex Bowman was not satisfied with his performance at Dover on Sunday. Despite finishing in the top 10, he felt that he did not fully capitalize on the fast car provided by the No:48 Hendrick Motorsports team. This is particularly frustrating considering he is the only driver from HMS who has yet to win a race this season, and his winless streak has now exceeded two years.
During the race at Dover, Alex Bowman’s frustration reached its boiling point when his spotter took the Stage 2 win from him by air-blocking. This caused the No:48 Camero ZL1 driver to become furious, leading him to complain about it on the team radio. In response, Hamlin made a bold comment, resulting in Bowman telling him to “shut the f**k up.”
Former NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace has now discussed this incident on his YouTube channel. He pointed out that the spotter was in the wrong, and instead of engaging in a heated exchange, Bowman should have brushed it off and focused on the remainder of the race.
Despite the disappointments, Alex Bowman does see some positives in the race result at Dover. He believes that the consistency and good point finish are steps in the right direction for the No:48 team, and he hopes to continue making progress in that direction.
With 15 races still remaining in the regular season, the No:48 team has ample opportunity to secure a win and secure their spot in the playoffs. Both Alex Bowman and his crew need to elevate their game and perform more efficiently and cleanly on the track.
