More than half of the race was conducted under the caution flag.

The season opener for the NASCAR Truck Series in 2024 concluded with a massive wreck at Daytona International Speedway. NASCAR decided to end the race under caution, and the winner was announced as the driver from the No:2 team of Rev Racing, with Spire Motorsports’ securing second place and Toyota’s taking third.
The entire race was filled with wrecks, similar to the chaotic season finale in 2023 where the champion emerged victorious amidst the chaos. Out of the scheduled 101 laps of the Truck Event, 51 laps were run under caution, highlighting the brutal nature of the race as drivers collided with each other throughout the event.
The race finish was the most chaotic of all. Rajah Caruth, who was running among the front pack, lost control after a minor contact from another driver, causing a chain reaction that took out the entire field. One driver, in particular, had the most severe crash, as their Truck flipped upside down and landed on top of a rival’s truck before finally hitting the ground, creating sparks.

Fortunately, despite the intense crash, no drivers sustained injuries as they quickly exited their cars following the incident. They were all taken to the infield care center for a medical examination and were subsequently released. When speaking to the media, most drivers were uncertain about what had happened or who was to blame for the incident.
The NASCAR fans on X were outraged by the race’s conclusion as they did not want a repeat of the embarrassing season finale from the previous year. They wasted no time in criticizing the drivers for their reckless driving and for spoiling the race.
There were numerous negative comments directed at Caruth, who was primarily responsible for the incident. Some of the criticisms were valid, but there were also comments from fans who disliked Caruth for reasons unrelated to his driving abilities, including his skin color.
Demote Rajah. He has no place at this level. He caused a major accident without showing any remorse. I’m not a fan of Bubba, but I was glad to see him confront Rajah and ask him what the heck he was doing.
This race was a joke 😂 This series has turned into a NASCAR WreckFest. Drivers are racing too aggressively right from the start. They don’t care about the consequences at all. If they wreck someone, oh well, that’s just how the series is.. 🙄
“At this point, all drivers involved in the incident have exited their race trucks” is like the racing equivalent of “no animals were harmed in the making of this film.” 😬😬😬
Driver number 71 should be suspended. Deliberately causing someone to spin at 180mph resulted in multiple suspensions last year in the cup series. This incident is arguably worse and has cost teams millions of dollars in damages.
Hendrick made a terrible choice with this driver 💀💀💀💀
Did Caruth’s spotter give him clearance? I can’t understand why Caruth suddenly veered upwards like that. It didn’t appear as though he had lost control or anything.
