Looking ahead to 2024, not much has changed. Despite facing tougher competition from models like the BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS, the Cadillac Escalade remains a large, premium SUV. It may have a more modern appearance and advanced technology, but it’s still the same high-end vehicle it has always been.
The fifth generation of the Escalade, which celebrated its third birthday a few months ago, shares its foundation with the Chevy Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon. It offers a choice of two V8 engines, a diesel option, and even an all-electric version with the “IQ” moniker and unique design.
In the early 2000s, Cadillac wanted to offer something different, so they took a chance on a pickup truck variant. Thus, the Cadillac Escalade EXT was born in 2001. While it shared the Escalade name with the SUV, it was actually based on the same platform as the Hummer H2 and Chevrolet Avalanche. Production took place in Mexico at the Silao factory.
Cadillac kept the Escalade EXT in production until 2006, when the second generation was introduced. However, seven years later, Cadillac decided to discontinue the model altogether. Despite rumors of a possible comeback using the same platform as the SUV, it’s now evident that Cadillac has no plans to reintroduce the EXT, as it didn’t perform well in terms of sales.
Although a brand new Cadillac Escalade EXT is not on the horizon, it does exist in the realm of fantasy. A recent unofficial rendering by 412donklife on Instagram showcases an imagined version of the EXT. This rendering features a few unique touches, including a spacious open bed behind the cabin.
The artist behind the rendering also added some custom elements to the vehicle. It sports large 26-inch black alloy wheels from Forgiato, as well as smoked lighting units and privacy windows. The overall aesthetic, with its blue finish, is quite appealing.
In addition to the visual modifications, the artist refers to this concept as the EXT-V. This suggests that it would be equipped with a supercharged 6.2L V8 engine. In the latest Escalade-V, this engine produces an impressive 682 horsepower and 653 lb-ft of torque, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. So, if a 2025 Escalade EXT were to exist, would you consider buying one, regardless of whether it featured the powerful V8 mentioned above?
