Because of their poor performance, the Golden State Warriors will need to carefully consider their options leading up to the NBA trade deadline this week. One particular area they should focus on is the future of guard Chris Paul. Despite joining the team at the beginning of the season, there is a strong likelihood that Paul will be traded to another franchise in the coming days. Brian Scalabrine, speaking on SiriusXM NBA Radio, suggested that the Warriors should explore a trade involving Paul and Jonathan Isaac from the Orlando Magic. The Magic have reportedly shown interest in acquiring either Paul or Kyle Lowry before the trade deadline. It is evident that they are looking to add a veteran point guard to their roster for added experience. Paul, a highly skilled player, boasts an impressive career average of 17.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 9.4 assists. However, this season he has struggled, averaging only 8.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 7.2 assists, partly due to injuries. He has played in just 32 games so far. Isaac, on the other hand, has also faced injury setbacks, missing two entire seasons due to ACL damage. Last season, he played in only 11 games and has also missed some games this season. Despite the injury concerns, Isaac could potentially bolster the Warriors’ frontcourt. However, it is likely that other changes would need to be made as well. This is just one of several options that the Golden State front office will consider in the coming days. The team had high expectations for Paul when he joined the Warriors in the summer, but it seems increasingly likely that he will be traded soon. The question that remains is who the Warriors will receive in exchange for him.
