The Las Vegas Raiders have not had a successful offseason so far. They made the correct decision to remove the ‘interim’ label from Antonio Pierce’s head coaching position, but they do not have much else to boast about. Kliff Kingsbury declined the opportunity to be considered for the offensive coordinator position and instead joined the Washington Commanders, forcing the Raiders to pursue Luke Getsy as an alternative. According to a report from Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Rich Scarangello is the top candidate for the role of quarterbacks coach. Scarangello has previous experience as an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at both the professional and college levels, but he has never led an exceptional offense. Consequently, the fans may not be particularly excited about this hiring. His most recent position was with the Kentucky Wildcats in 2022, where he served as offensive coordinator and QB coach for a brief period before getting fired. There have been rumors that the Raiders are interested in acquiring a top quarterback prospect in the upcoming NFL Draft, and some speculate that they may even trade up to secure the right player. However, Luke Getsy prefers to implement run-heavy offensive strategies, which could make it challenging for any rookie they acquire in the draft to adapt to the professional level early in their career. Nonetheless, the team does have a strong defensive identity and demonstrated their capability in the latter half of the season under Coach Pierce.
