Pedro Acosta, the rider for Tech3 GasGas, chose to commend the Spanish supporters instead of focusing on his position in the Championship standings following his second-place finish in the chaotic Jerez MotoGP Sprint. The race at Jerez was treacherous due to a dry track with damp patches from earlier rain, resulting in 15 out of 25 riders crashing at some point. Acosta, a rookie sensation, managed to navigate the challenging conditions and climb from 10th on the starting grid to secure second place in the 12-lap race on Saturday. Speaking to MotoGP Reporter Simon Crafar in front of an ecstatic Spanish crowd, Acosta acknowledged the difficulties of starting from 10th but expressed satisfaction with his overtaking maneuvers and the handling of the wet patches on turns 5 and 8. Despite his position in the championship, Acosta emphasized the joy of making it to the podium in front of the passionate fans.
Although Pedro Acosta’s performance impressed, he was unable to challenge the Sprint winner and current championship leader, Jorge Martin. Martin benefited from Marc Marquez crashing out of the lead. While Martin was content with his victory, he acknowledged that the Grand Prix on Sunday would present a different challenge if the weather remained consistent. Martin described the race as difficult due to the demanding track conditions. He initially had a good start but noticed Marquez closing in, eventually overtaking him after Martin made a mistake on corner 7. Martin attempted to keep up with Marquez but ultimately capitalized on Marquez’s error. Looking ahead to the dry conditions expected on Sunday, Martin anticipated a contrasting experience. Despite that, he expressed his delight at winning in Jerez and his overall happiness with the outcome.
