The 2023 offseason was an intriguing period for Saquon Barkley and the New York Giants. There appeared to be a great deal of dissatisfaction between the two parties, and they ultimately failed to reach a decision on a long-term agreement. Barkley was ultimately designated, binding him to the team for one additional season, but leaving his future uncertain. Due to these uncertainties, many fans and analysts speculate that Barkley will be with a different team at the start of the 2024 season.
During a segment of The Carton Show, Willie Colon suggested that Barkley should join a team that fully embraces him, stating, “It’s either Houston or the Chargers.” At first glance, either of these teams could be a potentially suitable fit for Barkley. After Dameon Pierce’s first year in the league, the Houston Texans seemed to have their position covered, but his performance in 2023 left something to be desired. Barkley could join a team that made the playoffs this year, hoping to be the missing piece they need for a deeper postseason run.
Although the Los Angeles Chargers did not make the playoffs this year, they have several advantages. With a new head coach and Justin Herbert leading the team, many believe that the Chargers have the potential to possess one of the most formidable offenses in the league. Additionally, Austin Ekeler is facing difficulties in securing a contract extension from the Chargers. If the team decides to go with a slightly younger player at the position, they could turn to Barkley.
