The Motorland Aragon circuit has secured its place on the MotoGP calendar for the next three seasons until 2026 following an agreement between Dorna and the local Aragon government on Tuesday. This new three-year contract comes after the previous agreement signed in 2022, which stated that Aragon would host three Grand Prix races over a span of five years. However, due to MotoGP’s absence from the Spanish venue in 2023, the previous deal only ensured two races between now and 2026. In order to gain more exposure for their circuit, the Aragon government has offered and approved a new deal, guaranteeing Aragon’s presence on the MotoGP schedule for the next three years. The agreement was signed by Manuel Blasco, Minister of Environment and Tourism and President of Motorland, and Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports. The terms of the contract remain the same as the 2022 agreement, with the Aragon Government required to contribute an additional €8 million to host the extra Grand Prix. According to MotoGP’s announcement, this development follows a study conducted by The Aragon Institute of Development, which highlighted the economic and reputational benefits of hosting motorcycle Grand Prix racing. The study revealed that hosting MotoGP has an economic impact of €47 million, making the €8 million hosting fee a worthwhile investment. It also found that attendees of the event spend an average of €200 per day and over €460 per stay. Fans can look forward to the Aragon GP in 2024, which will take place from August 30 to September 01.
