The Golden State Warriors attempted to make a significant move that would have had a major impact on the league. According to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelbourne, the Warriors made an effort to acquire LeBron James through a trade. Interestingly, sports analyst Colin Cowherd wasn’t taken aback by the fact that the trade fell through. During his show, Cowherd expressed that the Lakers actually match up well against any team in the Western Conference, as well as some Eastern Conference contenders, due to their size and defensive abilities. This is something that the Warriors cannot claim. Cowherd questioned the logic behind trading LeBron and giving the Warriors a lifeline, stating, “I’ve never thought trading LeBron makes sense. Why would you give the Warriors of all teams a life preserver?”

Cowherd compared the attempted trade to something that would happen in the video game NBA 2K, implying that it was unrealistic. He further explained that LeBron is aware that the Lakers are not far behind in the championship race. They recently won the In-Season Tournament and have a better chance of winning a championship than the Warriors at the moment. Cowherd acknowledged that it is understandable for the Warriors to test the waters and assess LeBron’s value, especially considering the rumors surrounding his dissatisfaction. However, ultimately, the trade didn’t make sense for the Lakers or LeBron, so it was not surprising to see it fail to materialize.
