Unfortunately, we’re not here to discuss the Vantage or GT3 racers. Instead, we are here to celebrate the pinnacle of motorsport, Formula 1. So, what can we tell you about the AMR24? Firstly, it boasts a Racing Green livery similar to its predecessor, the AMR23, and shares a similar design philosophy.
However, Aston Martin has made it clear that there is minimal carryover from the previous car, with the majority of parts being new for 2024. This has resulted in a lighter and more aerodynamically efficient race car, designed to excel across a wider range of circuits.
Last year, the AMR23 faced challenges on certain tracks, despite achieving eight podium finishes and a total of 280 points. Aston Martin ultimately finished fifth in the Constructors Standings, trailing McLaren by 22 points. The two teams battled fiercely, but McLaren ultimately had the advantage in the second half of the season.
Team boss, Mike Krack, expressed pride in debuting the AMR24, attributing its success to the hard work of the entire team at the new AMR Technology Campus. The car represents a significant step forward for Aston Martin in 2024.
Since the last race in 2023, the team has been focused on making improvements in every area. They have concentrated their efforts on what truly makes a difference and what truly matters for improvement. Almost every aspect of the car has been refined and enhanced, building on their strengths and learning from the previous season. With 2023 being their best season to date, their goal for this year is to consistently score points, achieve podium finishes, and compete for their first victory in the iconic green color.
So, what sets the AMR24 apart? A closer look reveals an updated front wing, designed to manage the wake from the front tires more efficiently. The aim here is to redirect the wake away from the rest of the car, allowing other surfaces to generate downforce effectively.
Furthermore, the sidepods and overall bodywork have been completely redesigned, with a focus on managing airflow around the floor and over the rear wing. The suspension features a push-rod setup both at the front and rear, with the rear design optimized to accommodate Mercedes’ latest power unit and gearbox.
Behind the wheel of the AMR24 this year will be Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, forming the same driver pairing as last season.
