The Buffalo Bills have a delightful, yearly tradition where they fail to emerge victorious in the Super Bowl. Subsequently, all of their devoted supporters engage in discussions about how they will triumph in the Super Bowl the following year. It’s an amusing spectacle.
However, the year 2024 is no exception. Merely one day after the Kansas City Chiefs celebrated their triumph with the Lombardi Trophy, the Bills’ social media team promptly released the obligatory “Next year starts NOW” hype graphic on various platforms. This year’s rendition showcases Josh Allen, Dawson Knox, and other players gazing into the horizon as the sun sets on the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, the esteemed host of Super Bowl LIX.
Immediately, fans noticed a predicament. The graphic also features an oversized Lombardi Trophy bursting out of the stadium, which is undeniably impressive. However, the positioning of the trophy is an intriguing choice.
Alas, the words “wide right” will forever be remembered in infamy in Buffalo. The Bills’ devoted fanbase, known as Bills Mafia, will never forget the moment when Scott Norwood missed the potentially game-winning kick (wide right) in Super Bowl XXV against the New York Giants with a mere 8 seconds remaining on the clock.
Unfortunately, they were compelled to relive this nightmare 33 years later. During this year’s Divisional Round game against the Chiefs, Tyler Bass lined up for a 44-yard field goal that could have tied the game with less than 2 minutes left. Regrettably, he kicked it wide right once again.

But will the upcoming season bring about a change? Perhaps not. Based on the reactions on social media, fans are growing weary of the Bills’ annual ritual. The city of Buffalo is feeling the anguish, and that’s saying a lot for a fanbase that frequently partakes in the dangerous act of smashing their bodies through flaming tables.

If the Bills’ fortunes don’t improve next year, maybe they should consider revamping their post-Super Bowl graphic. It has become rather stale, featuring the same graphic and caption every year.
In all fairness to the social media team, though, the images they create are remarkably accurate. The Bills consistently find themselves on the outside looking in.
