NASCAR enthusiasts are furious with Bubba Wallace following the circulation of a video on Friday night that seemed to depict him deliberately attempting to run over a photographer in the pits of the Daytona 500.
How’s that for an accusation!?
However, things are not always as they appear. I regret to inform those who are eager to see Bubba face severe consequences that I must be fair in this situation.
No one is more critical of Bubba (justifiably so) than I am. I believe he is the most theatrical driver in the racing community, prone to being unpredictable, and often needs to calm down.
Having said that, when fans unjustly provoke controversies on Elon’s insufferable platform, I feel compelled to defend individuals when necessary.
That is precisely what I am doing here. No, Bubba Wallace did not attempt to harm anyone after Daytona 500 practice. Not seriously, at least!
Admittedly, it may not look great at first glance. Bubba is certainly taking that left turn rather casually.
However, upon further examination, it turns out that the person he was seemingly targeting is his personal cameraman, Nico Banda.
In my opinion, this renders the incident insignificant. I apologize. Once again, fairness is essential. Who among us hasn’t engaged in such shenanigans with our friends? Pretending to run over people is a common occurrence in this country between buddies. It simply is.
If you spot an opportunity to give your friend a good fright while driving towards them, you must seize it. Failing to do so would make you a party pooper who doesn’t appreciate having fun.
Frankly, I have narrowly escaped being run over numerous times in a NASCAR garage. It’s like the Wild West down there.
Now, some may argue, “Bubba’s PR team is just making him say that!” I understand where you’re coming from. But let’s be rational for a moment. I’m all for a juicy conspiracy theory, especially when it involves Bubba Wallace.
No one in the NASCAR community generates more attention than Bubba. Ever since the noose incident, it has been an all-out battle between you all and Bubba Wallace. I understand. You either adore him or despise him.
I know where most of you stand – trust me, I know.
However, this accusation is a stretch unlike any I’ve seen before, and I refuse to accept it. I cannot do so in good conscience, at least.
Therefore, I am putting on my authoritative NASCAR journalist hat and declaring this… fair game! No harm, no foul.
Continue on your way.
