The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are prepared to embark on a new chapter in their offensive strategy. While Todd Bowles remains in charge, Liam Coen, the newly appointed offensive coordinator, will take over from Dave Canales, who departed to become the head coach of the Carolina Panthers. Coen is reportedly planning to bring in another member of the University of Kentucky coaching staff, Brian Picucci, to join him at Raymond James Stadium. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Picucci will serve as the assistant offensive line coach under Coen. Picucci previously worked as a quality control coach for the Wildcats and has a longstanding relationship with Coen, having previously worked together at UMass from 2005 to 2008. Additionally, Picucci has experience as an offensive assistant and quality control coach during Matt Patricia’s tenure with the Detroit Lions in 2018 and 2019. The Buccaneers will now need to negotiate new contracts with Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans. Mayfield is expected to return to the team and is rumored to be in line for a lucrative multi-year deal following his impressive performance in his first year with the organization. Evans, on the other hand, has expressed his desire to remain in Tampa for the rest of his career. However, both parties were unable to reach an agreement last season, so it remains to be seen if they can overcome their differences now.
