Calvin Johnson’s career came to an end due to the immense pain he had to endure, according to recent shocking revelations. In an interview with a former quarterback, the former wide receiver of the Detroit Lions, who still holds the record for the most receiving yards, admitted to using Marijuana during some games to alleviate his football-related pain.
During the interview, Johnson jokingly stated:
“I was getting fried before games towards the end of my career. Playing high was the only way I was going to make it through the pain in my body.”
Despite his struggles, Johnson had an illustrious nine-year career, although he only appeared in 135 games for the Lions. In 2016, at the age of 30, he announced his retirement. Following his departure from football, he hinted at the physical challenges he faced during his career, addressing the multiple injuries he endured.
No one has been able to surpass the record set by Calvin Johnson throughout his career. In the 2012 season, he achieved the remarkable feat of completing 1,964 receiving yards. However, prior to the 2023-24 season, Tyreek Hill, a wide receiver for the Dolphins, boldly claimed that he would surpass 2,000 yards, putting Johnson’s record at risk.
Despite a strong start, Hill ultimately fell short of reaching 2,000 yards in a single season, and Johnson’s record remained intact. In recognition of his achievements, Johnson was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021, despite his comparatively short career. The physical struggles he faced ultimately led to the premature end of his time in the sport.
