During the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday night, TNT hosted an alternative broadcast featuring Draymond Green, Taylor Rooks, and Charles Barkley. Throughout the game, these three individuals discussed the players on the court and their roles within the league.
At a certain point, Barkley once again targeted Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns. According to NBACentral, Barkley stated, “I have no intention of disrespecting Kevin. However, he is not a leader but rather a follower. This has been evident throughout his career.”
Barkley’s opinion of Durant is well-known among fans of the league. He has previously criticized Durant for lacking natural leadership qualities and instead being someone who follows the lead of his teammates.
What makes Barkley’s comments about Durant intriguing is that they have elicited responses from Durant himself in the past. Durant has never been one to shy away from confronting Barkley or any other critics.
It remains to be seen whether Durant will become aware of Barkley’s latest statement and choose to address it. Currently, the Suns hold the fifth position in the Western Conference with a record of 33-22. They are considered one of the most competitive teams in their conference, but if they aspire to reach the Finals, they will need to display stronger leadership, whether it comes from Durant, Booker, or another player.
