Luka Doncic, the third overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks who was later traded to the Dallas Mavericks, has shown continuous improvement since joining the league. Despite his impressive career, Doncic has yet to be recognized as the league’s MVP. However, this could change if the Mavericks finish as one of the top teams in the NBA this season, as Doncic is currently posting outstanding numbers. Recently, he even received MVP chants from the crowd in Brooklyn, as seen on Bally Sports Southwest’s Twitter account. Doncic’s performance against the Nets was exceptional, with 35 points, 18 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block in 43 minutes of play. These numbers helped the Mavericks secure a 119-107 victory. Overall, Doncic is averaging 34.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 9.4 assists per game this season. While his statistics make him a strong contender for the MVP award, the Mavericks’ somewhat lackluster record as the eighth seed in the Western Conference could hinder his chances.
