The 66th edition of the Daytona 500 race has been rescheduled to Monday afternoon due to inclement weather. The NASCAR Cup Series drivers will hit the track at 4pm ET. Preceding the race, the NASCAR Xfinity Series race, which was originally planned for Saturday, will now take place at 11am ET on Monday.
The broadcasting schedule remains unchanged, with the Daytona 500 being televised live on Fox, accompanied by radio coverage on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
This marks the third occurrence in the history of the Daytona 500 where the race will be held on a Monday. In both 2012 and 2020, the race commenced on Sunday but was postponed to Monday due to rain.
Leading the pack to the green flag will be Joey Logano, the winner of the 2015 Daytona 500. Joining Logano on the front row is Michael McDowell, the reigning champion of the 2021 Daytona 500.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr., the victor of the previous race, will defend his title starting from the 35th position.
Among the competitors, there are seven former Daytona 500 champions: Logano, McDowell, Austin Cindric, Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, Austin Dillon, and Stenhouse.
A total of forty drivers will participate in the race. Ford will have the highest representation with 16 drivers, followed by Chevrolet with 15 drivers, and Toyota with nine drivers vying for victory.
