The positive update: the Daytona 500 is finally commencing today in a tabloid-like format. I assure you, the weather is pleasant here. It’s the first time in several days. The 2024 NASCAR season is truly going to kick off today. It’s a true account.
The negative update: there have already been accidents!
The positive update, once again: it was only a couple of troublesome jet dryers. No need to worry! You know, it’s never a major issue when fuel spills all over the place. It usually turns out fine!
What a way to start The Great American Race. Can’t seem to catch a break, huh? This race was originally scheduled to take place yesterday. Obviously.
Of course, Mother Nature decided to take a massive, two-day long nap over the entire state of Florida this weekend, and everything at the track has been a complete failure since Saturday.
That means the NASCAR Xfinity Series race, which was initially planned for Saturday afternoon, is now going to happen later tonight. The 66th Daytona 500 will begin at approximately 4:30 p.m. today…
…assuming all the fuel is cleaned up by then.
As depicted in the images above, a pair of jet dryers crashed into each other near Turn 1 while drying the track earlier today.
There is no information on HOW that occurred, considering they were moving at a speed of about 5 MPH, but one would assume that there was one jet dryer at the top of the track, another at the bottom, and one started sliding down the incline.
When that happens around here, it’s difficult to stop. I don’t know if you’ve heard about it.
Regardless, everything seems to be fine in Turn 1 as the clean-up process continues, and the Daytona 500 is still scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
Let’s just hope that there are no more incidents involving jet dryers today. We’ve witnessed this scenario in the past…
