Donny van de Beek recently secured a transfer away from Manchester United, where he struggled to receive any playing time. Frequently finding himself on the sidelines, the Dutch midfielder was eager to play somewhere and finally secured a loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt.
Unfortunately for the 26-year-old, his issues with regards to playing time did not cease. He was not included in the club’s squad for the UEFA Europa Conference League, which meant he could only take part in domestic competitions for Frankfurt.
The manager, Dino Toppmoller, recently admitted that he apologized to van de Beek, assuring the midfielder that he would have enough opportunities to play in the upcoming season. He expressed his complete faith in the loanee and stated that he would have a significant role to play in the latter half of the season.
Van de Beek recently featured in an under-21 match for the club, where he scored two goals and provided two assists. Toppmoller was impressed with his performance and remarked,
Donny Van de Beek has only made 62 appearances for Manchester United during his three-year tenure at the club, with 39 of them coming off the bench. He had a brief spell at Everton, but he failed to make a lasting impression. He eventually secured a transfer away from the Red Devils in January 2024, when he joined Eintracht Frankfurt on loan.
Van de Beek has only played in four matches thus far, all of them as a starter. He has accumulated a total of 235 minutes on the field, being substituted in all of his starts. He has not shown any exceptional performances in his limited appearances, failing to score a single goal or provide an assist.
Frankfurt have the option to make the transfer permanent, provided they pay €14 million for the Dutchman. United had acquired him for €47 million from Ajax. He still has half of the season remaining to prove that he could be a valuable asset for the German club.
