Eugene Bareman reveals that Israel Adesanya is getting closer to his return. Adesanya recently announced that he will be taking a break from competing in the middleweight division after his loss to Sean Strickland at UFC 293 in September. However, according to his head coach Bareman, Adesanya has been diligently training at City Kickboxing in case he receives an offer to fight. Bareman expressed, “We are preparing for the possibility of a fight. We are getting him in shape and he is ready to accept a potential match if one arises soon. He has completed his break and is eager to make a comeback. Just provide us with a date and an opponent, and we will be prepared to compete.”
As the main event for UFC 300 has yet to be announced, there have been rumors linking Adesanya to potential matchups against middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis and light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. With UFC 300 scheduled for April 13, which is less than two months away, Bareman suggests that Adesanya will be fully prepared around that time. He stated, “We have been training for a solid month and a half now, so he is on the verge of regaining his peak physical condition. In another month and a half, he will be in top form, just like before his break.”
Bareman is pleased with Adesanya’s progress and is glad to have him back in the gym. Adesanya appears to have a newfound energy and is taking excellent care of himself during his time off. Bareman mentioned, “He looks fantastic. It’s great to see him back training. He has a renewed vigor, and he has been utilizing his break wisely. He feels rejuvenated and prepared to return to action.”
