Rangers are closely monitoring the situation of Tyrese Campbell, a player from Stoke City. It is reported that the Gers have renewed their interest in the talented left-footed forward, who is set to become a free agent in the upcoming summer. The club had previously shown great enthusiasm in signing Campbell four years ago, as it was revealed that they had engaged in discussions with him in an attempt to lure him away from his current club, Stoke City. Now, under the management of Philippe Clement, Rangers may make a fresh attempt to secure the services of the 24-year-old player, who happens to be the son of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell.
Campbell recently received a bid from Hellas Verona, but Stoke City rejected the offer, which was close to £1 million, from the Serie A side. The Englishman has recovered from his injury and returned to training early last month. Since then, he has appeared in Stoke City’s last four league games. In the 13 matches he has played this season across all competitions under Steven Schumacher’s guidance, Campbell has scored two goals and provided one assist. He was also included in the starting lineup for Stoke City’s most recent Championship match, where they suffered a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Leicester City, the current league leaders.
Rangers are expected to lose Fabio Silva at the end of the season when his loan spell from Premier League team Wolves comes to an end. Consequently, they are anticipated to strengthen their frontline during the summer transfer window. Campbell, being a highly versatile attacker, has been deployed in various positions this season, including left-wing, centre-forward, attacking midfield, and right-midfield. Currently sitting in second place in the Scottish top flight, Rangers’ recent 3-0 victory over Livingston has brought them within three points of Celtic, with a game in hand. Their next match will be against Aberdeen, who currently occupy the eighth position in the league table.
In other news, it has been reported that Rangers are considering a double swoop in the transfer market following a “record-breaking” deal being offered.
