Carlos Sainz is currently a highly sought-after driver in the racing industry. Unfortunately, he has been left without a seat for the 2025 season as his team has decided to replace him. However, since receiving this news, Sainz has been performing exceptionally well, achieving two podium finishes in his first two appearances. As a result, Hans-Joachim Stuck, a prominent figure in the racing world, is urging the team’s management to sign the ousted Ferrari driver.
Sainz made a remarkable comeback at the Australian Grand Prix after undergoing surgery for appendicitis. His victory earned him praise from all corners of the racing community, as he made the most of the opportunity given to him. On the other hand, his win came as a surprise to his former teammate, who was only able to secure a fifth-place finish despite Sainz’s retirement.
Hans-Joachim Stuck was astonished by Sainz’s performance in Australia and believes that the Austrian team should sign him. Stuck expressed that if he were the team principal, he would have found a way to terminate the current driver’s contract and bring in Sainz, a three-time race winner. Additionally, he believes that Sainz’s inclusion in the team would provide formidable competition for Verstappen, the team’s current star driver.
Sainz and Verstappen began their racing careers together in 2015 with Toro Rosso. However, their time as teammates in the sister squad was marked by intense competition. Ultimately, Verstappen was promoted to Red Bull, while Sainz found himself in a difficult situation and left the Red Bull pool of drivers shortly after.
Stuck explained that the deteriorating relationship between the two drivers was primarily due to the unfortunate circumstance of being teammates. Their desire to outperform one another in the junior team created a toxic environment in Toro Rosso, leading to Sainz’s departure.
Despite the past tensions, relations between Red Bull and Sainz appear to have improved. For the current season, Sainz will be fully focused on his final year with Ferrari, aiming to end on a high note.
