Former Leeds United and Burnley striker Ian Lawson has tragically died at the age of 84, it has been verified.
Lawson initially emerged from Burnley’s youth system before a stint in their senior squad for a number of years before subsequently transferring to Leeds.
A genuine beloved figure at both clubs, the unfortunate news of Lawson’s demise was disclosed by Burnley on the previous day, as the team honored him prior to their Premier League match against Liverpool.
Lawson also featured for Port Vale and Barnsley, and is survived by his spouse Maureen, daughter Sharon, and son Michael.
