Former professional basketball player Bryn Forbes was taken into custody on Tuesday on charges related to domestic violence after reportedly attacking the mother of his two children. As per legal documents, Forbes allegedly approached the woman’s apartment window on Monday and, upon being allowed inside, proceeded to strike her in the head and subsequently strangle her using various methods, including his forearms, the collar of her shirt, and his hands. Despite her pleas for breath, Forbes callously responded, asserting that if she could speak, she was not being choked. Prior to the arrival of law enforcement, Forbes fled the scene, but was apprehended the following morning. The arrest took place in Bexar County, Texas, with Forbes now facing a third-degree felony charge for assaulting a family member through choking/strangulation. Currently, he remains incarcerated with a bail amount set at $7,500.
In addition to this recent incident, Forbes had previously been arrested in February of the previous year. During that time, he was accused of repeatedly striking a woman he was romantically involved with after an argument escalated into physical violence. However, Forbes managed to enter a pretrial diversion program in June, effectively avoiding further legal consequences.
Before his professional career, Forbes played collegiate basketball at Cleveland State University and Michigan State University. He later joined the San Antonio Spurs as an undrafted free agent, spending four seasons with the team before briefly signing with the Milwaukee Bucks. Subsequently, he returned to the Spurs for another season before eventually joining the Denver Nuggets. Forbes then played for the Minnesota Timberwolves during the previous season, appearing in 25 games and averaging 3.6 points, 0.7 assists, and 0.6 total rebounds. Notably, he has not participated in any games this current season with any team.
