If you tuned into Fox News on Friday morning, you may have been surprised to learn that renowned White Sox slugger Frank Thomas passed away earlier this year after appearing in an “In Memoriam” segment. Fortunately, he wasted no time confirming that he is alive and well after being made aware of the mistake.
Thomas spent the majority of his career in the MLB with the Chicago White Sox. Known as “The Big Hurt,” he hit 521 home runs and maintained a batting average of .301 over his 19-season Hall of Fame career.
While he may face challenges in maintaining his testosterone levels, there is no indication that the 55-year-old doesn’t have many years ahead of him. However, on Friday, the Fox News program The Faulkner Focus mistakenly included his photo in a segment honoring those who passed away in 2023.
Now, it is important to note that there was indeed a former baseball player named Frank Thomas who died in 2023. However, this Frank Thomas was a three-time All-Star for the Pittsburgh Pirates, born in 1929, and lived to the age of 93 before passing away in January.
The other Frank Thomas wasted no time in taking to the internet to confirm that he is still alive. He posted a picture of himself sitting in his car, making it clear that reports of his death were greatly exaggerated and that, like Wade Boggs, he is very much alive.
“I apologize for my former employer, Fox, being so irresponsible on National TV this morning. I am alive and doing well. This truly astonishes me as well,” Thomas tweeted.
It is worth mentioning that the individuals responsible for the mistake issued a correction once they became aware of it.
Let’s hope that it will be a very long time before Thomas is actually featured in such a segment.
