Front Row Motorsports has entered into a new agreement with Team Penske, making them a top-tier program for Ford. Owner Bob Jenkins expressed his pride in being associated with the iconic American brand and emphasized the success they have achieved in recent seasons in both the Cup and Truck Series. Front Row Motorsports has been a Ford team since 2004 and has secured four victories in the Cup Series and eight victories in the Craftsman Truck Series for the manufacturer. Their driver, Zane Smith, won the series championship in 2022 driving a Front Row Motorsports Ford F-150.
In the Cup Series, Michael McDowell and Todd Gilliland are the team’s full-time entries, while rookie Layne Riggs will be driving for Front Row Motorsports in the truck series. By strengthening their relationship with Ford, Front Row Motorsports has gained access to additional resources and support, elevating them to a Tier 1 program. Ford Performance will also collaborate with the team to develop Riggs and future drivers.
During qualifying for the Daytona 500, McDowell secured a front-row starting spot by finishing second to his new technical teammate Joey Logano. This technical alliance between Front Row Motorsports and Team Penske will involve collaboration on various aspects such as engineering, aerodynamics, race setup, strategy, and pit crew development.
Mark Rushbrook, the global director of Ford Performance Motorsports, commended the way Front Row Motorsports has been built over the years by Jenkins and Freeze. He expressed excitement about the potential for even greater achievements with the new alliance with Team Penske, acknowledging that while racers may not be known for their patience, Front Row Motorsports has set an example of how to build a successful team.
