Eric Bieniemy has joined the Washington Commanders at the start of the 2023 season. The Commanders have made a new move by hiring former Arizona Cardinals’ head coach as their offensive coordinator. Bieniemy’s future with the team is uncertain now that Kingsbury has joined the coaching staff. However, Bieniemy is still under contract with the Commanders as their offensive coordinator and assistant head coach. Despite the hiring of Kingsbury, there is a possibility that Bieniemy will still be part of Washington’s plans. The team’s owner has hinted that Bieniemy may be considered for a coaching position. However, it is likely that Bieniemy will coach elsewhere in 2024 as he has been allowed to interview for other positions, including the Las Vegas Raiders’ offensive coordinator job.
The Washington Commanders have also announced the addition of as their defensive coordinator. Whitt, who has been an NFL coach since 2007, has never served as a coordinator before. He previously worked with Dan Quinn as an assistant coach in Atlanta and as the pass game coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys. With Quinn as the coordinator, the Cowboys had impressive defensive rankings in completion percentage, passing yards allowed, and quarterback rating.
