Since Lionel Messi arrived in the United States to play for Inter Miami, there has been a significant increase in football followers. The DRV PNK Stadium was packed to capacity due to Messi’s presence at the club.
Since his arrival, numerous international stars, including LeBron James, have made it a point to attend matches. James, who holds a minority stake in Liverpool, discussed the impact of the Argentine on Major League Soccer.
During an interview with ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, LeBron James stated:
James was present in the crowd when Messi made his first appearance for Inter Miami against Cruz Azul. He secured victory for the club by scoring a free kick in the 94th minute. Since then, he has only played five more matches for the club. The World Cup winner is currently preparing for the upcoming MLS season.
Many fans were eagerly anticipating Lionel Messi’s participation in the match against the Hong Kong selected XI on February 4th. Unfortunately, Messi had to sit out due to an injury he sustained, leaving many fans disappointed. Even the Hong Kong Government expressed their frustration over Messi’s inability to play, considering their significant investment. Prior to Inter Milan’s final match of their Asia tour, Messi expressed his desire to play against Hong Kong.
On February 7th, Inter Miami will face Vissel Kobe in the afternoon. Messi has stated that he is feeling better now, but his availability for the match has not been confirmed yet. He also expressed his hope to play and is awaiting clearance to step onto the pitch.
