Red Bull Motorsport Consultant, Helmut Marko, has emphasized that the team will not be hasty in making a decision regarding their drivers for the 2025 season. Despite Audi and Aston Martin already working towards finalizing their lineups, Red Bull will take their time to consider their options. Marko pointed out the actions of Audi and Aston Martin as they try to secure drivers for their respective teams. Audi reportedly gave an ultimatum to a driver, while Aston Martin had plans to acquire another driver. However, Marko assured that Red Bull would not engage in these tactics and would not make a decision before the mid-season.
Marko also expressed his thoughts on a certain driver’s performance in the current season. He praised the Mexican driver, stating that he is having his best season with the Austrian team. The driver’s second-place finish contributed to Red Bull’s third 1-2 finish of the season, increasing his chances of securing a contract extension.
Red Bull Team Principal, Christian Horner, echoed Marko’s sentiments about the team’s driver lineup. Horner acknowledged that the driver market had started early this season, with many drivers eager to secure their positions despite only four races being completed. However, Horner emphasized that Red Bull will not be rushed into making a decision.
In addition, Horner mentioned that there is significant interest from other drivers towards Red Bull due to their dominance on the grid. He previously stated that 16 drivers have been in contact with the team. Nevertheless, Horner reiterated that Sergio Perez remains the team’s priority for the upcoming season.
Overall, the 2024 season has been smooth sailing for Red Bull, aside from some challenges during the Australian weekend. The team has moved on from the investigations involving Christian Horner and has regained stability. However, only time will reveal how rival teams will resist Red Bull’s domination this season.
