The NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans had a unique reason to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory in Super Bowl LVIII. The team rallied around their starting center, Jonas Valanciunas, who bears a striking resemblance to Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. In a lighthearted gesture, the Pelicans players playfully congratulated Valanciunas, paying homage to Kelce and the Chiefs. Valanciunas graciously accepted all the cheers and applause from his teammates.
The Pelicans’ official account on X joined in on the fun by sharing a photo of Jonas warming up for their game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday. The caption humorously stated, “won the Super Bowl last night and already back to work.” It seems that being Travis Kelce’s doppelgänger has its perks, even if Valanciunas, who is younger at 31 and stands at an impressive height of 6-foot-10, hasn’t won three Super Bowls or dated the world’s biggest pop star.
Despite not having the same number of Super Bowl wins as Travis Kelce, Valanciunas isn’t in a hurry to switch careers with his NFL twin. With an estimated $135 million in career earnings, he is content with his success in basketball. Valanciunas is definitely carving out his own path in the NBA, separate from his resemblance to Kelce.
