Holger Rune’s mother, Aneke, will now attend fewer of his tournaments. This change comes after a recent earthquake within Rune’s team. Aneke, who has been a constant presence in the 20-year-old Dane’s travels, did not accompany him to Oslo or Rotterdam. However, Rune addressed this absence in a press conference, clarifying the reasons behind it.
The young Danish tennis player explained that his mother will no longer be with him at every tournament. He stated, “It’s a bit coincidental. There will be some tournaments where she will be present, and others where she won’t. We frequently communicate over the phone and discuss the matches before and after. She is an integral part of my team, and I value having her by my side.”
For Rune, Aneke holds great significance. He expressed, “I feel her absence 100%. It’s definitely different. However, I believe that for certain tournaments, it’s beneficial for us to be together, while for others, it’s not. For example, our physical trainer, Lapo, wasn’t even present this week. So that’s the situation.”
Rune concluded by saying, “This decision was mutual. I only participated in the UTS in Oslo and Rotterdam. Next, I will be traveling to Nice or Denmark, and we will keep each other updated.”
