The Kansas City Chiefs have emerged as the winners of Super Bowl LVII, and as a result, images of Max Verstappen’s previous attempt at the sport have resurfaced.

The recent NFL Super Bowl saw the Kansas City Chiefs come out on top in their match against the San Francisco 49ers. While many Formula 1 drivers were watching the game, various celebrities were also present to witness the intense showdown between the two teams. Therefore, amidst all of this, pictures of the F1 maestro’s foray into American Football have made their way back online.
Red Bull Racing’s official Instagram account shared multiple photos of the reigning world champion enjoying the sport. Verstappen was seen wearing a Super Bowl jersey with his number ’33’ on it, reminiscent of Formula 1. Additionally, he also sported a Red Bull-designed helmet while playing. The Dutch driver navigated through various training equipment used in the sport.

At the time, Verstappen was 20 years old and took part in throwing and catching the “egg-shaped ball,” which he later admitted felt strange to him. He trained alongside the Del Valle Cardinals High School team in Austin, Texas, before the US Grand Prix. Verstappen’s former teammate, , was also present during this session.
Daniel Ricciardo, who used to be Verstappen’s teammate at Red Bull, joined him in trying their hand at American Football. The two engaged in throwing and catching the ball, with Verstappen ultimately coming out as the winner. He defeated Ricciardo by a single point. The duo also participated in evasion drills and practiced throwing and receiving with the high school team.
Ricciardo humorously commented on his performance during the game, admitting that his kicking and throwing skills were not on par with Verstappen’s. However, he did acknowledge that his catching was “OK.” The two had a fun time exploring American Football during their session.
As the Chiefs celebrate their victory this season, F1 drivers Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon extend their congratulations to the winning team. In addition, Scuderia Ferrari shared a humorous meme featuring the Super Bowl and their car launch. The entire Formula 1 community was highly excited about the Super Bowl matchup.
