The era of the New England Patriots dominance came to an end when Tom Brady departed for Tampa Bay. Now, it is officially over as the Patriots’ reign is being documented in a nine-part series called The Dynasty, set to be released on Apple+. This documentary will delve into the team’s history, but it will likely leave out the true reason behind Bill Belichick’s current unemployment status.
A few weeks ago, I wrote about how NFL teams are intentionally sidelining Belichick due to his unpleasant demeanor. While I mainly did it to take jabs at the esteemed coach, I found it hard to believe that no team owner would take a chance on him. After all, the NFL is known for giving second chances.
However, I failed to consider another possibility: Is Belichick’s one-year break actually a covert suspension from Roger Goodell as a result of Spygate? It’s similar to the mysterious hiatus Michael Jordan took from basketball. There’s a commissioner trying to protect the league’s reputation, an air of intrigue, a scandal involving a key figure in a dynasty, and a peculiar suspension.
The difference is that Goodell probably informed Belichick that he would have to sit out a year once his tenure in Foxborough was over, unaware that the Patriots’ dominance would continue for another 15 seasons. This gap year could be Belichick’s penance for his involvement in filming the Jets, Rams, and other teams that New England “out-schemed” for decades.
Goodell destroyed the tapes because of his foolishness, before realizing that he could get away with being a complete idiot. This decision also allowed the toxic relationship between Belichick and Brady to infect the AFC like a plague.
The despicable commissioner couldn’t help but admire the team’s longevity and worked alongside the NFL and Robert Kraft to create the longest-lasting and most controversial team in the league’s history. Deflategate was nothing more than a distraction to “motivate” New England to win more Lombardis.
If Belichick suddenly expresses interest in managing a Triple-A club, then we will know for sure.
Did you hear that they are making another installment of the Dumb and Dumber franchise? I had no idea, but the actors they chose to replace Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels are like the epitome of stupidity.
Ah, look at Aaron Rodgers and Robert Kennedy Jr. right after staring directly at the sun. I genuinely hope that one of those imbeciles gets bitten by a rabid raccoon, and they are stranded far away from civilization without access to a Tetanus shot.
