Jannik Sinner is confident about the future. Following his victory at the Australian Open, the young Italian is not indulging in extravagant celebrations and is determined to continue striving for the top spot in the world rankings.
With a clear objective in mind, Sinner understands that achieving it requires consistent effort on the court and in the gym. In an interview with ATP Media, he expressed his views on this matter.
“I prefer not to discuss my ATP ranking. My focus is on finding happiness on the court and developing as a player. That’s the only aspect I can control, everything else is beyond my influence. I’m content with being ATP No.4 at the moment, but my ultimate dream is to become the new ATP No.1. I will give my all to make it a reality,” explained the ambitious Italian.
Sinner also had heartfelt words for his parents following his triumph in Melbourne.
“It’s a surreal experience for me, and I can only imagine how strange it must be for them. I haven’t had the chance to see my family yet, but I will reunite with them after this tournament. Perhaps I’ll even visit my parents’ home,” he revealed, emphasizing a unique aspect of his journey. “Interestingly, there are journalists stationed outside my parents’ house. Undoubtedly, things have changed to some extent, but at the core, I remain the same person I was before Australia. Even my parents haven’t changed. They continue with their daily routines. Everything is fine,” Sinner assured.
At present, Sinner is competing in his first-round match at the ATP in Rotterdam. Just hours before the game, he shared his initial impressions of the conditions: “Based on my experience so far, the conditions are relatively fast. The serve plays a crucial role. I’m still trying to grasp the ball’s bounce. Sometimes it’s swift, other times it slows down. Fortunately, I arrived here early, allowing me to adapt to the conditions. I can provide a more accurate assessment after the first match.”
