New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson is reportedly evaluating trade options and considering teams that would be a good fit for him. The Jets organization has agreed to gauge Wilson’s trade market this offseason, and it seems inevitable that he will be traded. Wilson and his agent have started doing some legwork to set the stage for a potential deal.
It is still unclear whether the Jets have given Wilson permission to seek a trade, but if they do, Wilson’s agent will identify teams that he would be interested in playing for. If there is mutual interest, the agent will present those teams to the Jets to finalize the details of a potential trade. Wilson is open to playing for an offensive-minded head coach, something he has not had in New York.
According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, Wilson is unlikely to be traded until March, when quarterback situations start to become clearer after the new league year. Although Wilson does not have a no-trade clause in his contract, the Jets may consider trading him to a destination of his choice.
During an interview on “The Boy Green Show,” former Jets player Nick Mangold predicted that Garrett Wilson has a chance to break the Jets’ Pro Bowl drought. Mangold believes that Wilson, a talented receiver, could have a huge year if he plays with a healthy Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. Wilson had a successful rookie season and is expected to continue to improve in the future.
Nick Mangold, the last Jets offensive player to make the Pro Bowl in 2015, was asked about which current NYJ player will end that drought. Mangold, who claims he is not biased because of his Ohio State connection, believes that Garrett Wilson, a great receiver and person, has the potential to break the streak. Mangold wasn’t the only offensive Pro Bowler for the Jets in 2015, as Brandon Marshall and Chris Ivory were also nominated that year.
Defensively, the Jets had two representatives in Muhammad Wilkerson and Darrelle Revis. These players showcased their skills on the field as defensive lineman and cornerback, respectively.
