The Kansas City Chiefs granted Kadarius Toney permission to board their private flight to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl. With only one game left on the schedule, the Chiefs have no reason to restrict the pool of players available to participate on Sunday. Even if that player disputed the reason he was listed as inactive for the team’s previous game. – Stephen Knox Read More

There are enough easy targets in need of a quarterback that Chicago Bears GM Ryan Poles would be foolish to not accept the many attractive offers that will come his way before the NFL Draft on April 25. Chief among them are the Washington Commanders, who have a new owner, new GM, and new coach desperately trying to reset the culture. With the hire of Kliff Kiingsbury as the offensive coordinator, Washington might as well write “Mark” on its forehead. – Sean Beckwith Read More

Bill Belichick’s offseason job search ended in embarrassing fashion last week. For unknown reasons, a multitude of general managers vying to keep their jobs in a highly competitive industry chose to align themselves with young, unproven coaches they’ve had previous relationships with rather than an eight-time Super Bowl champion. – DJ Dunson Read More

Super Bowl LVIII week is here, as we’re just days away from the clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers. For a couple of decades now, we’ve had Super Bowl simulations played out via EA Sports’ John Madden Football video game. It’s been hit or miss, with some years getting it right and others wrong. One year the simulation accurately predicted the winner and final score. – Criss Partee Read More

Unrestricted capitalism is imposing some limitations on the top one percent enjoying one of its grandest parties of the year. With the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, luxury suites have reached exorbitant prices. These seven-figure suites are beyond the budget of even some of the biggest stars who are actually participating in the game. – Stephen Knox Read More

Katie Sowers was a member of Kyle Shanahan’s coaching staff the last time the San Francisco 49ers were in the Super Bowl. That was back in 2020, when the Niners faced off against the Kansas City Chiefs, whom Sowers would join as an offensive assistant the following season. – Mackenzie Meaney Read More

They removed Jim Trotter. They moved the Commissioner’s annual Super Bowl press conference to Monday — and made it invite-only. They believed they had done everything they could to safeguard Roger Goodell. They were mistaken. – Carron J. Phillips Read More

When we last checked in with Brett Favre, he was trying to defend against allegations that he knowingly played a part in diverting funds from Mississippi’s welfare fund to his pet project, a volleyball court at his alma mater where (surprise!) his daughter played on the team. In addition to (maybe) repaying his ill-gotten gains — we’ll get to that in a minute — Favre has apparently decided the best way to win back the public’s favor is to (checks notes) sue sports commentators Pat McAfee and Shannon Sharpe, along with Mississippi Auditor Shad White, for defamation. The lawsuits against McAfee and Sharpe were settled and dismissed, respectively, though Favre is appealing the dismissal of his lawsuit against Sharpe. To date, Favre has denied any wrongdoing and has not been charged with a crime. – Julie DiCaro Read More
