LeSean McCoy is not exactly a fan of Dak Prescott. The former running back turned commentator consistently taunted Prescott throughout the season, even going as far as calling him derogatory names. He further emphasized that the Dallas Cowboys quarterback has an effortless job. However, during an interview on Julian Edelman’s Games With Names podcast, McCoy admitted that he may have crossed the line with his criticisms of Prescott. He attributed his comments to his lack of experience in broadcasting, stating that he should have chosen his words more carefully, referring to Prescott’s performance as subpar instead. McCoy clarified that he considers Prescott to be an average to above-average quarterback, retracting his previous statements.
It is worth noting that Dak Prescott’s performance does not align with McCoy’s assessments. In 2023, Prescott emerged as a top contender for the league’s Most Valuable Player award. He showcased his skills by throwing for an impressive 4,516 yards, 36 touchdowns, and only nine interceptions. Additionally, Prescott led the Cowboys to their third consecutive 12-win season and secured the NFC East title. Despite a disappointing loss to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, Prescott acknowledged his own shortcomings, stating that he did not perform well. However, he still managed to throw three touchdowns and accumulate over 400 yards.
Prescott, however, does not seem to be bothered by LeSean McCoy’s criticisms. When asked about McCoy’s comments during an interview on 105.3 the Fan in August, Prescott responded nonchalantly, stating that he is not aware of what McCoy is saying and suggesting that McCoy is motivated by financial gain. It is not surprising that McCoy, a legendary figure among Philadelphia Eagles fans, takes pleasure in criticizing Prescott and the Cowboys. Until the Cowboys can establish a successful playoff run, McCoy will not be the only one engaging in trash talk.
