England’s enthusiastic group of fans, known as the Barmy Army, who accompany the English cricket team everywhere they go, also came across the viral image and shared it on social media platform X.
The first T20I match between Australia and West Indies took place at the Blundstone Arena in Hobart on Friday, February 9. It was during this match that a picture of ‘King’ and ‘Charles’ playing cricket gained widespread attention.
In the second innings, West Indies had the task of chasing a target of 214 runs. Brandon King and Johnson Charles were the opening batsmen for their team.
The image that went viral featured their surnames, King and Charles, prominently displayed on the screen. This led to humorous associations with King Charles III, who is the current monarch of the United Kingdom and other commonwealth realms.
The Barmy Army, known for their passionate support of the English cricket team, also noticed the viral picture and shared it on social media platform X.

West Indies captain Rovman Powell won the toss and chose to bowl first. Australia posted a total of 213/7 in 20 overs, thanks to David Warner’s 70 off 36 balls, Josh Inglis’s 39 off 25 balls, and Tim David’s 37 off 17 balls.
West Indies openers Brandon King and Johnson Charles put together a partnership of 89 runs, with King scoring 53 runs and Charles scoring 42 runs. The West Indies team was steadily progressing towards the target, with Jason Holder’s quickfire innings taking them to 200 runs. However, Holder’s 34 off 15 balls was not enough to guide his team to victory.
In the end, West Indies could only reach a total of 202/8, losing the match by 11 runs. Australia took a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. The second match will be held at Adelaide Oval on Sunday, February 11, while the third match is scheduled for February 13 at Optus Stadium.
Prior to the T20I series, Australia had already defeated West Indies in the three-match ODI series, winning all of the matches. However, West Indies managed to draw the two-match Test series after securing a historic victory at the Gabba.
