The two-time NASCAR champion had a successful debut with RCR in 2023, winning three races out of the first 14 events and establishing himself as a top contender for the championship. However, the team’s performance took a turn for the worse in the second half of the season, resulting in an early exit from the playoffs.
Heading into the 2024 season, the team was hopeful for a comeback. Unfortunately, their poor performance continued until the recent race at Texas, where both Kyle Busch and his teammate achieved top-10 finishes. The team sees this as a positive momentum boost leading up to the upcoming race at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday.
During a pre-race discussion, Kyle Busch expressed his belief that, like many other teams, RCR has a good chance of winning the race on Sunday. He also highlighted RCR’s advantage in terms of speed on Superspeedways, which provides him with a better and easier opportunity for success.
Although both RCR drivers would not qualify for the last 16 if the 2024 Cup playoffs were to start now, Busch remains unconcerned about their current point standings. He acknowledged that the team is not where they should be, but he remains optimistic about future events and is not worried.
Busch, who previously won the regular season race at Talladega, appears to be in the right mindset heading into the weekend. He will start the race in fourth position after a strong qualifying performance, alongside his teammate Dillon in the same position. The duo has a great opportunity to work together and dominate the race from the beginning.
